Raised by an Electrical Engineering legend and nursed on the concepts of TQM with Demming and Kaizen. My 40 years of experience in high end audio sprouted from a family of engineers, professional musicians, and professors blessing me with pitch perfect hearing and savant levels of note and musical recall to start. Tuning my first guitar by ear at the age of 13, my first HI FI system in Chicago was a Rega Planar 3, a Musical Fidelity A3 Integrated, with Warfedale Diamond speakers. From my first prepubescent moments as a budding audio afficiando I realized it was possible to easily outperform systems costing ten times the price with the proper musical insight and knowledge. That challenge drives me to this day. Sleeper systems. Anyone can throw money at the problem, it takes insight, passion, intellect, experience, and a dash of lunacy to be a Carrol Shelby of HI FI. All of that means absolutely nothing with that very modest Curriculum Vitae. In fact, these days my profession often finds me fighting fires and providing emergency medicine. That being said, system setup and integration is more art, less science. My current home system is an analog source, a digital source, an integrated what costs less than $2500 when new, speakers that are 25 years old, and a sub that was only $400 when new 10 years ago. To say it can embarrass rival all brand new systems up to $50,000 would not be an understatement. If you live in the Phoenix area I would be happy to demo it by appointment. It is the most solid evidence I have that expensive components aren't always necessary and setup and tuning is everything,
How do you know if you need my services?
In most cases, I can tell if a system is fully integrated and realizing its full potential within about 5 seconds of listening. You can too. Ask yourselves the following questions. Does this system make you forget about it and allow you to be drawn in to the music? Is this the system that makes you cry? Does it keep you up late at night? Do you want to miss work or take a day off to keep listening? Does it keep you digging out song after song listening way beyond what you should be doing? Do you lose track of time when you listen? Simply, does it sound like live music? Does it sound just as good in another room or another part of the house? In the end, all great HI FI selfishly steps out of the way, evaporates into the background, and leaves you with nothing but the music. It never draws attention to itself, infact - that is a sign things are "wrong". If your system isn't quite there, maybe there is work that can be done.
The proof is in the pudding - GUARANTEED
The only thing that matters is YOUR ears and YOUR opinion in YOUR system in YOUR environment. I recently attended a demonstration of an uber expensive unobtanium piece of gear at THE most prestigious HI FI shop in the valley and when I wasn't impressed. The owner and head salesperson prefaced the demo with how many other people were impressed with the gear. Frankly, I don't give a flying fuck who else likes it or not. The only thing that should matter was whether I like it. I don't buy gear to impress others nor should you.
Therefore, if you do not agree wholeheartedly that my HI FI tuning services are worth every substantial penny - you do not pay for it. Period. End of story.
